Civil War Pension Index lists a William M. Stone as leaving a widow, Rebecca Stone, in Missouri. His rank was a Private and his service was “10th Missouri Cavalry – Company I, 2nd Missouri Cavalry – Company M, E 9th Missouri Cavalry – Company E.” 7

The real estate value was $500. No one in the household could read or write, and neither Jennie nor William had been to school in the last year. (12 years old) 5
