A volunteer, from findagrave.com posted photos of my 3rd great-grandfather, Henry MAUNTEL. Henry was the sheriff of Dubois County, Indiana in 1865. The dates on the tombstone, match the dates that I have. Namely, that Henry was born 2 August 1829 and died 5 May 1884.
Interestingly, each side of this monument serves as a tombstone for a member of the family. The south side is for Henry MAUNTEL, the north side of the monument is for his wife, Mary A. [Mary Adeline MILLER] who died 11 September 1901.
The east and west sides of the monument were too hard to photograph clearly, but the volunteer told me it was for George A. MAUNTEL died 5 July 1894 (age 28), and the other Lewis A. MAUNTEL died 21 December 1891 (age 21). George and Lewis were sons of Henry and Mary MAUNTEL.
The tombstone rests in Section 41, Lot 13 of Oak Hill Cemetery, Evansville, Vanderburgh County, Indiana.
A big thanks to everyone who volunteers at findagrave!
